Hosted vs direct checkout — what is the difference?

Hosted checkout (HPP)

Your customer clicks Pay and is taken to Moneris’s secure payment page to complete the transaction. They return to your store after payment.

Good for: Stores that want the simplest setup and the smallest PCI compliance footprint.

Direct checkout (REST API)

The payment form lives on your store. Your customer never leaves your checkout flow. The transaction is processed in the background.

Good for: Stores that want a seamless, on-brand checkout experience.

Both are included in your purchase. You choose which one to use in the plugin settings after installation — and you can switch at any time.
